How long has Penguin Hosting been in business?
Penguin Hosting has been hosting shared accounts as a re-seller since 2005 and using our unique customer centred service and billing system since 2008. We are a part of The Image Stop Ltd. which has been in existence since 1995
Do you offer a Money Back guarantee?
We offer a 30-day money back guarantee on our hosting plans. If you are not satisfied with our service, we will refund all hosting charges, no questions asked. There is no refund for domain names, as you will be given full ownership of the domain name for the time remaining on it’s registration. You may transfer your domain name away at that time. There are no refunds upon completion of the 30th day of hosting with Penguin Hosting/The Image Stop ltd.
How long will it take to set up my account?
We accept Visa and MasterCard through our online invoicing system. Payments by check or money order must be mailed to our mailing address. Make checks payable to The Image Stop ltd. We also accept e-transfer payments and payments via Paypal – contact us for details.
How will you invoice me?
All accounts renew automatically as per our terms of service. All our invoices are sent via email to the designated owner of the account.
Do you put banners or pop-ups on my web pages?
No. We never change or tamper with your website.
Do you backup my website?
We perform periodic backups of websites under 10Gb. We still recommend that our clients use a maintenance system to ensure local backups are kept up to date.
Can I use your web hosting services if I own a Macintosh Computer?
Yes. You can use your favorite Macintosh-compatible Web-authoring tool and use an FTP application to make your changes. Hey……we design on our Mac 🙂
Do you offer Microsoft FrontPage Extensions?
Due to support for Microsoft FrontPage being discontinued in 2006 by its distributers, we no longer provide FrontPage Extensions. However, Frontpage is capable of publishing via FTP, which we fully support.
Do you allow telnet / SSH access?
Yes. SSH access is available on all of our hosting services, including: Business Class, VPS, Reseller, and Dedicated Servers.
What Operating System do you use on the servers?
Our servers currently run CentOS 5.x or CentOS 6.x, depending on the server. Our VPS systems are powered by Virtuozzo with CentOS 6.x.
What version of Apache do you use?
We use Apache 2.
Can I use Active Server Pages (ASP) on my site?
No. We only use Unix Servers. ASP requires Windows Servers.
Can I purchase a domain name with Penguin Hosting?
Yes. You can order .com,.net,.org,.biz and .info domain names and even other top level domains. Being a hands-on and personal company we handle all registrations directly and do not promote or offer on-line registrations for hosting or domains. We want to know our clients.  🙂 You get full ownership of the domain name for the registration period.
I already have a domain name. How do I point it to my new account?
In order to point your domain at our servers, you should contact (via phone or their website) the company who sold you the domain and ask them to modify the nameservers to reflect the correct information for your hosting account. Contact us for these settings.
Can I purchase more bandwidth?
Yes. Please contact a sales representative for more information. You may not need to. 🙂
Can I purchase subdomains?
Yes. Please contact a sales representative for more information.
Do you offer a shopping cart?
Yes, we offer PrestaShop, Magento, and OpenCart on all Power and Pro hosting accounts, just to name a few. Additionally, you are able to install any 3rd party shopping cart that you wish. (we suggest WooCommerce when using WordPress sites)
Do you offer merchant accounts?
We do not offer Merchant Account services. However, you may obtain a Merchant Account from any service provider of your choosing to use on your website with Penguin Hosting / The Image Stop ltd.
Do you offer a web authoring tool?
No, we do not offer simple/basic website builder tools. It’s a client / quality choice as we want the very best experience and results for our clients.  🙂

Are there any hidden charges?
No. We will not charge you for anything without your prior consent.
Can I upgrade my hosting plan at a later stage?
Yes. All accounts can be upgraded. Upgrades will usually happen the same business day.
When I upgrade, do I have to pay a setup fee again?
No. We do not have setup fees at all. 🙂
What are your hours of Technical Support?
Phone, email, and chat support is always available during business hours. We monitor and check our emails and phone message after hours and on weekend/holidays  as well. Due to our service focus we handle all client issues for them. This enables us to perform all investigations and handle dealing with tech support while you simply handle your business.
What kind of servers do you use?
All of our servers are 100% Dell PowerEdge servers with CentOS operating systems. Depending on the primary function, the machines will have between 16-96GB, 4 to 40 processors, and 6-35 hard drives.
Are your servers monitored?
Yes. Administrators monitor our servers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Do you allow adult content on your servers?
We do not allow adult content. This is described as pornographic material. We do allow certain types of artistic material. Please contact support if you have further questions.
What kind of database access do you provide?
Our shared hosting plans allow for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQLite access. We do not offer MSSQL or Microsoft Access Database.
What version of PHP do you use?
We currently offer PHP 5 and PHP 7. You have the ability to choose between PHP 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.5, 5.6, 7.0, and 7.1.
What version of MySQL do you use?
We currently run MySQL 5.x by default.
Can I use Java Servlet Pages (JSP) on my site?
Due to resource requirements, we currently only support JSP on VPS and Dedicated platforms by request.
Can I purchase a domain name without purchasing a hosting account?
Yes, you can .
I’ve changed my domain name servers over, and my site is not coming up. How come?
Once you have changed the nameservers for your domain name, it takes anywhere from 24-72 hours for your domain name to fully propagate over to our servers. However, in the mean time, you can access your website via a temporary url which we can supply to you upon request. If you experience any other problems with your domain, please contact us.
Can I purchase more email accounts?
Yes. Please contact a sales representative for more information. Most of our hosting packages offer numerous email accounts. The number of accounts being used can affect your hosting account. Ask us for details and direction on this.
Can I purchase Parked Domains?

Do you offer web design?
